 A Christmas version of I Corinthians 13

If I give the most beautiful Christmas gifts imaginable and host the most lavish Christmas parties, but do not show love to the poor and needy, I have forgotten why Christ came.

If I lavishly decorate my home with red bows, twinkling lights and shiny bulbs, but do not show Christ's love to others, I have ignored the meaning of Christmas.

If I ring bells for the Salvation Army Kettles and give all I have to disaster victims and needy causes, but never share my faith and the true meaning of Christmas, I have lost the purpose for which I am left here on earth.

If I sing in the choir, carol to my neighbors and attend a multitude of Christmas parties, but do not love the Savior, I have wasted my time.

Love is patient to others in line, because we know how much others need to be patient with us.
Love is kind to others because everyone is hurting and needs a little kindness at Christmas, it sets aside decorating and concentrates on the individual.
Love is not envious of others super color coordinated Christmas lights, but content with what it has.
Love does not boast about what it gives or what it does at Christmas.
Love is not proud; it has an honest, humble self-opinion.
Love is not rude; it does not yell at the kids to get out of the way, but is thankful they are around at all.
Love is not selfish; it is selfless and always giving of its time, talents and treasures.
Love is not irritable; it is not easily angered by people or events.  It keeps a happy Christmas heart all year.
Love keeps no record of being hurt at family gatherings.  It forgets others failures because it forgives them.
Love does not rejoice in giving only to those who are able to give in return, but rejoices in giving to those who cannot.
Love always protects; it makes others look good and builds them up.
Love always trusts; it believes the best about other people.
Love always hopes; even in the hardest times.  It sees beyond the immediate problem to the day when God will make all things new.
Love always preservers, it never gives up on people and is never defeated by circumstances.
Gadgets will break, trinkets will be lost, treasures will tarnish; but giving Christ, His love and the Good News of His Salvation is a gift that goes on forever.
